Meet the Trainers:

Scott McFadzen


Scott McFadzen has more than 20 years of experience in restoration and specialist remediation services in his role as the director of a full turn-key restoration company in North Queensland. He is a Restoration Industry Association (RIA) Water Loss Specialist (WLS), which is one of the highest designations in the restoration industry. He is also an IICRC-approved WRT instructor who trains students who wish to acquire their Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certificate.


Scott has been an industry spokesman for many years, speaking at national events such as the Australian Mould & Restoration Conference, Ausclean Pulire, and at the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters Conference. Scott has served as both National President and Vice President of the Specialised Cleaning & Restoration Industry Association (SCRIA).

Scott specialises in providing practical advice for governmental authorities, insurance adjusters, associations and training organizations, and building relationships across different sectors of the industry. He recently participated in a national roadshow around Australia explaining how to implement the new IICRC S500-2015 Standards, and highlighting the developments of policy and standards for companies in Australia. Scott regularly consults with other restoration companies, loss adjusters, claims staff and insurance companies on water damage claim handling.

Rachel Adams


Rachel Adams has been involved in the water damage and environmental health industries for more than 23 years. She holds a dual bachelor degree in Environmental Health Sciences and Medical Technology (Toxicology) from Purdue University. She is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She also holds a Master Restorer designation from the IICRC through her training, dedication and field experience.


Rachel was founder and President of Indoor Environmental Management, Inc (IEM) in 1994 in which she conducts inspections of both residential and commercial buildings throughout the country. IEM grew to develop one of the leading consulting and state-of-the art laboratory serving the needs of clients throughout the country.
Rachel served on the Board of Directors for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, Restoration Certification (IICRC) and was appointed to serve as the Technical Advisory Committee Chair for the development of the IICRC Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT). Rachel serves on the committee to write and establish guidelines and updates for the standard of care for mold remediation, also referred to as the S520, Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation. 

Courses that she currently provides for IICRC certification include, AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT), Water Damage Technician (WRT), Applied Structural Drying (ASD), Health and Safety Technician (HST), OSHA 10 and 30 hour compliance courses, Lead RRP Licensing Training, Building Investigation and Environmental Microbiology Sampling.
She serves as an Honorary Board of Director for the Society of Cleaning and Restoration Technicians (SCRT) and is an Associate member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA).
Rachel serves as an expert witness for litigations involving both defendants and plaintiffs. Her ability to provide data interpretation and evaluate protocols has made her a preferred specialist in her field. As an OSHA outreach trainer, she provides health and safety audits, training and regulatory compliance.


Rachel has published several articles in professional trade journals and participated in numerous research projects funded by both public and private institutions to improve structural drying techniques and promote healthier indoor environments.
